This has been a week for snatching stuff out of my own past. First, I reinstalled Warcraft III only to find that I'd lost my previous campaign's save files. No worries: I started a new campaign, figured out where it saved my files, jumped back to April and copied them right back. Time Machine even showed me that the folder I was in did not exist in backups between now and April, so finding the last valid backup of my previous campaign was a cinch, and the restored campaign files worked perfectly.
Tonight, a friend recommended that I try iMovie as a decent movie editing software to trim and polish the screencasts I'm making to promote Sequence Matrix. Alas, for I'd deleted iMovie ages ago and would now have to hunt out my MacOS X DVD in order to reinstall it -- but soft! What light through yonder window breaks? Could it be ... Time Machine?
It could and it was. Turns out I still had iMovie as of February 2009 (my backups go back a whole year! How awesome is that?). A click and a wait later, I'm ready to go.
I ♥ my Macintosh.
